Duelyst is a competitive multiplayer game. One of its features is that it appeared thanks to the kickstarter, having managed in 2014 to collect more than half of the required amount in just two days. Thanks to this, already in 2016 the game reached Steam. Duelyst was developed by Counterplay Games.
In general, the game is a mixture of several genres, including turn-based strategy and TCG. Here the user will have to collect their own unique collection of cards, improving them and increasing their deck. There are six factions in total. Each of them has its own unique features that can be used with creatures available to all.
As for the cards themselves, they are divided into three categories: spells, units, and artifacts. With spells and artifacts, everything is quite clear. But the units have interesting features. First of all, it is worth noting the general. He is the leader of the faction and the player’s display on the battlefield.
The General needs to be saved in combat, but he can also be used as a serious support for units and even damage them directly to the enemy. Each faction has only two generals. Moreover, the second will be available only after the 11th level of the faction.
Fighters from the deck
When compiling a deck for combat, it is important to pay special attention to the selection of units. They are the most common type of cards and it is with their help that various interesting mechanics are implemented in the game. So, the units of the Abyssian faction are not very strong, but they win with the help of their skills. For example, they can make it so that units use their abilities every time someone dies in combat. Also, this faction can call on the help of a demon. His characteristics are not too high, but every third card can call him.
Battle pets
Initially, they were not in the game. These units only appeared with the Denizens of Shim’Zar expansion. Battle pets behave on their own and may start attacking enemy units. Behavior depends on the type of pet. And although the player does not control him, but such a character is inexpensive and has some unique abilities.
Among all the positive characteristics of Duelyst, it is worth highlighting the high quality of graphics, a pleasant design style, and musical accompaniment that creates a special atmosphere during the battle. In addition, the game allows you to view the history of matches and even review the latest ones. All maps and factions have detailed descriptions, and the game itself has a lot of quests that make the user continue to fight, and also help in development.
However, the game also has some downsides. The main one is the apparent incompleteness of the project. It seems like something is missing in it. In addition, the random factor is often annoying, because of which the match can be ruined at the very beginning. But, in any case, the game is an excellent choice for those who are interested in new and interesting projects.
